Famed Racer Eddie Mulder Returns to Pikes Peak International Hill Climb As Motorcycle Grand Marshal

Colorado Springs, June 13

Almost 50 years ago, a talented young California desert racer and professional dirt tracker was noticed by the Triumph Factory, who signed him to represent the exceptional and popular brand.

Today the relationship has been renewed with the announcement by Triumph of North America that the legendary racer Eddie Mulder will be its 2011 representative at the 89th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 26.

Mulder, nine-time champion and world record holder in the second oldest motorsport race in America, has retired his Bonneville 750 from Vintage Racing but will preside over the historic event as Grand Marshall of the Motorcycle Division.

He’s a legend in the sport, inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999 after winning five AMA Grand National trophies during his career.

The 2007 and 2008 Pikes Peak champion also became one of the leading stunt drivers in Hollywood for movies and television productions.

During the festivities during the week leading up to the race day, Mulder will be attending the annual autograph session and BBQ held at APEX Sports in Colorado Springs. He’ll also be downtown on Friday night, June 24, for the event’s Fan Fest.

On Saturday, June 25, Mulder will pilot his 2011 Triumph Bonneville to lead an organized street ride starting from local Triumph dealer-APEX Sports (327 So. Weber Street) to the Hill Climb course with a personalized tour up the 12.5 mile, 156-turn Pikes Peak Highway.
